Secondary Radon Chamber
Application
NRSB Accredited Secondary Radon Chamber Application
The purpose of this document is to set up chamber characteristics and test criteria by which a radon chamber may be approved and certified to conduct calibrations, spikes, proficiency tests and performance evaluations for individuals or firms applying for NRSB measurement and or laboratory certification. This document does not apply to tertiary radon chambers whose performance criteria are less stringent. Satisfaction of the criteria included on this application will render the radon chamber as a NRSB approved chamber, qualified to evaluate and determine the outcome of a participant’s performance test.
Besides meeting the design criteria, an approved radon chamber must participate in annual inter-comparisons to maintain traceability for radon and for radon decay products if WL measuring devices will be tested in the chamber. Inter-comparisons at present are conducted in cooperation with EPA, organized at pre-arranged scheduling.
